Management Plan Review

The statutory management plan for the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is being reviewed to produce a new plan for the area for 2009-2014. The new plan will directly affect the landscape and rural communities of the area by influencing the policy, actions and priorities of partner organisations.

A series of consultation events have taken place during February and March and a new draft of the plan will be available for formal consultation during summer 2008, to be formally adopted in early 2009.

Taking part

Your chance to take part in discussions on the future of the Forest of Bowland AONB landscape.

The Forest of Bowland AONB Unit (which co-ordinates the overall AONB partnership) is working with consultants, Countryscape, to undertake a review of the existing management plan. In order to do so, we wish to gather a cross-section of local knowledge and opinions to help ensure the new plan reflects the ideas and aspirations of local people.

There is still time to get involved by completing this simple questionnaire about your views on the future of this special landscape.

Walk of the Month:

Bluebell Woodland

| Bluebell Woods

A wonderful time of year to see the bluebells in Bowland! Why not do this short walk starting from Calder Vale - on Sundays in May the ladies of Calder Vale run ‘bluebell teas’: homemade refreshments are available in the village hall, in aid of the church mission hall.
