The Forest of Bowland was designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) due to the quality of its landscape, this designation has enabled the Forest of Bowland to maintain its special qualities and its beautiful scenery and pretty villages are amongst the main attractions of the area.

Bluebell Woodland

A wonderful time of year to see the bluebells in Bowland! Why not do this short walk starting from Calder Vale - on Sundays in May the ladies of Calder Vale run ‘bluebell teas’: homemade refreshments are available in the village hall, in aid of the church mission hall.
